Maisie Jane & Jade Hudson are works of live art by Rankin for Hunger Magazine, Issue 15. Beauty breaks through as we watch the tattered walls of injustice fall off the face like pieces of tin foil. Art is the great equalizer. It allows us to vent our most intense of feelings, transforming mental anguish into the visual experience. Here I see the fight for female rights creatively captured across the sanguine skin of sanctity. Liberty rests forth in precarious form, as The fate of tomorrow is seen through the eyes of today.
Beauty is ablaze as vibrant tones erupt in a chasm of creativity. Borne anew these butterflies break out of their cocoons. Andrew Gallimore looks at the optics of facial play through the current atmosphere of the day. A vista of melodic skin is viewed in full-on color, as aqua-blue blends with pepto-pink creating a canvas of modern face paint. The eyes are alive with a vibrant kind of pride as orange erupts off the lids and over the lips. This is a call to creative arms. We stare beyond the typical fare as we open our minds as the hands of humanity reach out in kind.
WOMEN’S VOICES HAVE BEEN SILENCED FOR TOO LONG. Tin foil is wrapped around the face representing the years of muffled resistance, while below we begin to see the cracks of our conviction come through. There is an uprising happening. Behind the walls of misogyny we make our voices heard. The tin foil rips like so many dreams destroyed. Leaving pieces of shattered lives strewn over the skin. Nothing Can Erase the Pain that Exists – Exposure is Necessary. Women everywhere must work to free their muzzled voices. Symbolism speaks as empowered women liberate themselves from imprisonment. Like a phoenix in flight the spirit rises with so much delight.
The muffled sounds of resistance gives way to the clarity of our conviction. We are not alone. This is no longer isolated incidences easily ignored and brushed under the rug. This is the sound of Women Waking. Day replaces night as blindness gives way to sight letting what happens in the dark safely come into the light. Hold my hand and we will be forever 1 eternally… Your pain will never be erased but with each arm you’ll feel embraced. Together we can overcome!
Here… Silence Is Not a Virtue. Silence is Part of the Systemic Violation. THE TIGER HAS AWOKEN AND WON’T EVER GO BACK TO SLEEP… FOR SHE HAS BEEN WAITING A LIFETIME TO RETURN FROM THE DEEP.
